Listen. As a teacher, NO PARENT has ever regretted holding their child back. Many have regretted NOT holding their kid back, though. Best of luck to your girl this year!!

This needs to be normalized. I should have been held back. I was 17 when I graduated but I needed help every single year and went to summer school so many times. I was in school before the birthday/age limits were placed.

Kudos to your school district for doing what is right for the students. This will help her future so much more than pushing her on and letting her feel failure. She will never even think twice as she grows within her new grade level. So much better now than later.

I repeated kindergarten, and I was an honors student all the way through high school. Best thing my parents ever did for me was giving me one more year

As a teacher good job! So many admin refuse to hold kids back or recommend it. She will benefit so much from it and will be back on track.

Thank goodness she’s at a school that will keep her at that grade for another year to learn. 💓 soooo many schools, you as the parent, have to fight tooth and nail for schools to do this. Hope she has a great year✨💓
