I've actually tried this! It totally fixed my yellow teeth and made them like two shades whiter. The taste is super fresh too. Shipping was a bit slow, but overall the results are amazing. I really love it.

Teeth aren’t a “color” they’re a semi translucent structure that refracts light. Dentin (the layer under the enamel) is much darker than enamel naturally. Bleaching dehydrates the enamels structure so that the light refracts differently causing teeth to appear lighter. Yellow is NOT PLAQUE. Plaque can be removed with a toothbrush, the color can’t and that is the difference.
