The Casey Anthony verdict still makes me angry. I understand that a jury has to decide based on what prosecutors can prove beyond a reasonable doubt, but I will never understand how a mother could lie about her 2-year-old daughter’s whereabouts while that child was missing for an entire month and still walk away without being held responsible for neglect or endangerment. Caylee deserved protection, urgency, and adults who fought for her. Instead, she was failed in ways that can never be undone. I strongly disagree with the jury’s decision, and I believe some consequences go beyond what happens in a courtroom. God knows the full truth, and I truly believe He is just. A courtroom verdict may have said “not guilty,” but that does not mean every wrong goes unanswered. God is not going to overlook what happened to that little girl.
