I am in a lifelong study for Alzheimers at Mayo Clinic. I have to do sane memory tests annually and also had my blood tested for Alzheimers proteins.

I'm still working but I'm losing my words and sentence structure. names I forget even those close to me. I know them but it takes a bit. I forget my phn number or address. but it's hard at work. I deal with important clients and now I'm even scared to attend meetings. I forget what I wanna say it's like a million things go thru my mind at once. I'm 62 and I don't wanna bother my kids. I retire in 2yrs time. what will become of me

Early signs: 1) excessive weight loss (20 lbs without trying in the winter); 2) not remembering people’s names and events; 3) isolated more; 4) stopped going to the gym like usual; 5) became very elusive and quiet (to also hide problems); 6) depression; and 7) left stove on after cooking.

Did you ever forget your words mid-story? Like if you’re telling a story, but stop to clarify something then can’t remember what the original story is that you were telling?

I'm 56 I work in a medical office and I do fine but I've noticed I can't recall names , I can't remember where I park like at Walmart I have to pay close attention where I park, I can't find my words at times it scares me.

I got Covid in 2021 and had a fairly severe case. My memory has been terrible ever since. I can watch a movie and right after not remember it. I lose everything I touch, I write down things, I send myself messages every night. I put everything on a calendar. I still forget. When I drive so will forget where I’m going. It’s like a short blip. Then when I remember, I have to remember how to get to the place. This happens when going places that I’m familiar with and know how to get there. At one time I’d forget that I was cooking and leave the stove on. It I’ve gotten better with that. I do forget food in the microwave and find it the next day. Just forget I didn’t eat. I’ve seen a neurologist for Covid but no MRI’s or brain scans have been done. I went thru a 3 month brain study for Covid and have learned to be more intentional with tasks. I always GPS my outings. If I answer questions after watching a movie and go over them, I do have better recall the next day. I’ve heard those with Long Haulers Covid may be more susceptible to getting dementia or Alzheimer’s. So scary.

I'm scared of this, i forget words... not all the time and not bad enough to be an issue but i forget words that i feel i should know. as for peoples names, I've always forgotten them

How brave of you to share your story . I have a best friend who has frontal temporal dementia she’s now 59 . She has a great family that surrounds her with love and patience. I pray you have amazing support also . Some of your signs were also hers . God bless

My close childhood friend is at stage 6. She’s 61 years old. She knew something was wrong for a long time but went years without a diagnosis. Other than her husband, she has no family support from her mom or children.

My mom had early onset primary progressive aphasia. I realize it’s not the same as Alzheimer’s but it is another cause of dementia. What are your thoughts about genetic testing? After she passed away a few years ago I was sure I was going to do. Now I’m not so sure.
