If you think about it. Roman, even though he has been consumed to believe in the “American Dream” let men walk over him and even get with his fiancé/wife, nearly been killed multiple times due to Niko actions, Roman is way more morally superior and emotionally intelligent, than Niko who has Strategical intelligence which you see in his combat, but is blinded by a simple flaw, his stubbornness, only in the end to simply achieve nothing, good or bad ending, cause he still loses Roman basically his brother at this point, or the start of moving on and settling down with Kate. The only thing he won is the money in his pocket and whoever made it out alive from his wrath.
