As an air duct cleaning company. There’s different methods to clean the vents. We connect a hose that’s attached to a 5000 CFM HEPA Vacuum we attach it to the main trunk line and we push all the build up which falls in the main trunk line afterwards we clean all the main trunk lines.

I work in hvac HEATING AND AC( for 5 years) in newer homes this isn’t necessary normally you get the vents cleaned once every 5-10 years once homes become lived in and duck dirt and debris build up, if you have animals like dogs that shed you may want it done more often ( all it does is clean out the system of any buildup of dust and debris build up which happens quicker with dogs or over time it’ll build up on the edges

Most duct cleaning is a scam because if done properly it would be so expensive you would be better off installing a new duct system to replace your old leaky outdated one anyway.

I know mine are filthy but I’ve got inner duct lining, how can this be done without literally destroying it?

The only way to clean ductwork properly is to hook negative air up to the supply and return main trunk lines separately and clean the ducts with at least a steady 135psi of air from a compressor. This doesn't work. All this does is clean flex duct not the main trunk lines.

Why wouldn’t you have the vacuum, not that shop vac, hooked up by the furnace then send the air and brushes from that end you’re at towards the furnace?

check the furnace A-coil after this and clean it. Any debris knocked loose may damage your coil or clog it costing you more for a service you never really needed

People believe the scam is they are blowing nasty duty air into the ductwork, then sucking it out to make you believe it’s full of dust.
