Not to mention you often can't make it into other fields due to lack of talent and bad grades. A lot of people in psychiatry are there simply due to lack of choice which is extremely harmful to patients and to the entire field.

In the hopes of making you feel better, my 11 year old daughter dreams of becoming a Psychiatrist. She’s a straight A student and works hard to keep those grades because she dreams of helping those struggling with mental health issues.

It's the same for psychiatric nurses. Other nurses believe psych nurses do not have "real nursing skills" I worked in medical for 30 years. Many times my patients must be seen for medical issues and the patient receives substandard care because, they are a psych patient. The list of disparities is long. Well, at least we have each other.

I have shared this on my instagram and Facebook and stories. As someone living with schizophrenia, ocd and anxiety, Psych meds have saved my life. 8 years ago I jumped out 2 stories window of my apartment because I was hallucinating and thought someone wanted to k** me. I survived with a collapsed lung, 10 broken bones, and air in the heart sac. I was in trauma, ICU and 3 weeks of hospital stay. Then transered to a psych unit. Then rehab. Today I no longer suffer with psychosis, ocd or anxiety due to treatment and I am alive and thriving! So thank you for all you do! Psychiatrists are some of the most compassionate people! And btw. I am also a nurse and I love your videos!
