Your lats aren't opening up because of genetics. It's the wrong sequence. This one builds them. First, wide-grip lat pulldowns. Before you pull, drive your shoulder down and back. That detail shuts off the biceps and forces your lats to do all the work. Four heavy sets, adding weight each set. Second, barbell bent-over rows. Torso at forty-five degrees, elbows tucked to your sides, pull toward your belly button. Squeeze your shoulder blades together at the top and hold for a second. This exercise builds the thickness that makes your back look like a wall from behind. Third, single-arm dumbbell rows. One side at a time. Drive your elbow back like you're throwing an elbow strike and pin your shoulder blade hard. No torso rotation. Just your lats doing the work. Fourth, close-grip neutral lat pulldowns. Lower the weight under control until your arm fully extends. That full stretch is what most people skip, and it's exactly what makes your lats grow in width. Fifth, cable pullovers. Arms slightly bent, pull from the top down and hold the contraction for a second before releasing. Finish your lats off the right way.
