Six years ago, a grammy was a dream to them- a milestone that any artist yearned to reach. They once held hands tightly, nervously sitting in front of the screen just waiting for their name to be called in the nomination list. It was a moment filled with so much hope from individuals who dedicated their youth to music. Six years later, the effort, passion, and love for their craft remain as intact as they were on June 13, 2013. It was a moment filled with so much hope from individuals who dedicated their youth to music. Six years later, the effort, passion, and love for their craft remain as intact as they were on June 13, 2013. Yet, what remains seems to be not just regret, but also disappointment in how the Grammys increasingly cause people to question their criteria and fairness. The moment the Grammys decided to create a separate category for Asian artists, we seemed to see clearly the nature of a "game" that has always been dictated by the organizers of this white-dominated award show. BTS and Arirang truly deserved to compete in the main categories based on their artistic quality alone, rather than being set apart by their origin, region, or language. When the criteria seem to constantly shift, one cannot help but wonder if all artists are genuinely measured by the same standard. But then I realized, the pinnacle of music has never been defined solely by a trophy or the votes of a committee. The true value of music lies in its power to touch human hearts, bringing empathy, healing, and hope. And in that regard, BTS accomplished this a long time ago. It is deeply regrettable for the artists who dedicate themselves with all their passion. My heart breaks, too, for the millions of fans who have steadfastly stood by, supported, and trusted them through all these years. But that's okay. Trophies may belong to a single moment, but the music and the legacy BTS leave behind will endure forever in the hearts of listeners. That is the greatest recognition—one that no award can ever grant or take away. #btsarmy #bts
