As a prof/advisor, I unfortunately am often asked ‘What gen eds are easiest to take?’ or ‘I just want something online’. Every year it seems to getting worse. 😞 It’s hard to get them to understand what you are saying and you are right on the money.

i had to call my college asking how to switch classes because my advisor made me choose random courses because they said i’ll just switch them when i get to college and that this meeting was about just getting the full enrollment class number.

My favorite gen eds led me to getting a minor in Anthropology. They were the most interesting classes I took and helped me bolster my English essays because I was able to talk about the deeper implications of what we were speaking about

Thats why taking Dual Credit classes in high school (Hist, Eng, etc) is waaay better! you don’t have to take them at college. Just get em over with!

I don’t think many students know how to see/understand the skills offered in those classes. They also don’t know how or who to ask. Advisors are also not taught to ask those questions. What would be your approach?
