Because money was never the point of why he did it. It originally started out being that so he secure a financial future for his family, but that changed when he started gaining power. For him, it became about being on top, and respected, and fulfilling the desire of having control over his own life, which he felt he didn't have in the past.

By the end of the show, i doubt it was even about the money, Walt js wanted something so thrilling and life changing, being a Drug Lord was that, the money helped but You get 4 seasons of a nagging wife so doesnt work out. You end up bored, to the point where u js start trouble js because. Anyone can debate me on this but its js what i believe

i know its a joke but i also see a lot of the people in the comments saying he balled out in order to avoid suspension, and while i think that’s a big factor, another aspect is the fact that it kinda stopped being about the money for walter. at one point he has enough money for literally anything he wants or needs. he just continues doing what he does, because in his own words: “i liked it, i was good at it, and i was alive”. man did it for the love of the game.

It started only as getting money for his family when he died, but what people seem to miss in the comments, once he started changing his personality, it wasn’t about his family anymore, he literally says it at the end, he liked it and he was good at it, not always about the money spiderman
