It’s Food Traceability Rule, FSMA 204 is legislative name. It will get implemented because it a law. It’s beyond just Sysco - Walmart, Kroger, Publix, Target and many others already implementing data requirements including ASN 856 for Key Data Elements.

Yeah but if we implemented it how would RFK get all his unregulated high risk foods that he’ll recommend to the rest of the country

Is there a similar regulation or framework in other countries in North America like Canada? Or is the US leading the regulatory framework on this one?

The big industry companies that have contracts with the Sysco's and Sodexos of the world will often move their entire product mix to align with FSMA 204, for ease of consistency internally.

Sysco et al support make sense. Sales lost from an ongoing outbreak can cost them a lot of money. I would think the pushback would be lower in the supply chain. The the, "it's not my farm/suppliers why do I have to do all this BS?" That raw milk nut job in Utah(?) for example.

There are liability issues so some of the companies are trying to cover that. I suspect some are also looking for liability protection in the regulation. If government stopped creating liability protection that would go a long way toward preventing issues
