The wind causes the tassels on top to shake and they drop their pollen onto the silk tassels below, or onto the surrounding corn plants Butttt if you’re not growing many corn plants then it means there’s less pollen flying about and your corn may not get pollinated 😲 The best way to ensure your corn does get pollinated is to pick a tassel and rub it onto the silky strands of the corn. 🌽 Each “hair” on the silky strands is connected to a corn kernel, so the pollen needs to touch every strand in order for each kernel to form - how cool is that?! So make sure you’re taking your time, hitting all the right parts, and giving it the attention it needs 😏 Then, hopefully before long, you’ll get some beautiful corn full of delicious juicy kernels 😍 #corn #sweetcorn #handpollination #gardening #kitchengarden
