@moorsandmoremedia: Black history, Seneca Village, Tulsa, Rosewood, and African American history reveal the stories of communities that were displaced, destroyed, or devastated during different periods of U.S. history. While each case has its own unique circumstances, together they illustrate how Black neighborhoods and towns often faced violence, forced removal, discriminatory policies, or economic decline. One of the most striking examples is Seneca Village, a predominantly Black landowning community in Manhattan. In the 1850s, the city used eminent domain to clear the village and build what is now Central Park, displacing hundreds of residents. Other communities—including Tulsa's Greenwood District, Rosewood, Florida, and Wilmington, North Carolina—experienced r4cial violence or political upheaval that profoundly changed their futures.
