your points make sense, but I think everyone should choose a career based on what makes them happy and more passionate. I chose PT because I love the science of movement where with PA I wouldn’t be as happy to do my job because I’m not as excited about it.

You’re making me think my decision again😭 I thought of the two, and I had PA orginally but switched to PT since it interested me more and I like the sound of it more. They both make good money. I also could have more opportunities in PT. But this video is making me think abt it. What do I do😭✌️

To clarify: The flexibility in specialty you’re referring to for PA’s is called lateral mobility and actually similar to (arguable more expansive) within PT/OT careers. PA’s can work in many specialties from acute care to outpatient, while PT/OT can reach the same practice settings within the medical model plus home health, schools, and maany untraditional settings (eg urban planning, resettlement/immigration, etc). Within the hospital-based settings, therapies have the ability to specialize in neuro, cardio, ortho, vestibular, sports, etc. It’s all equally possible under the same one degree for both PA and PT/OT paths.

You mention career freedom but PTs can also specialize. And there’s so many settings they can work in. Also, aren’t PAs unable to have their own practice? Doesn’t sound like freedom working for someone forever. PTs can own their own business and then let someone else take it over after a few years and boom, freedom.
