rings of power are everything wrong with modern fantasy adaptation. why are we just straight up making shit up that doesn't even make sense? why are we changing the lore to such an extent? it's just horrible, there is no real love for the original work in any of the rings of power, it flat out sucks as an adaptation, sure, it looks cool but thats it. this will never be anything more than a crude try at making money for me, it is not official lore or anything

Balrogs and Sauron never met while Sauron was forging the Rings of Power. At most, they would have known each other back when they both served Morgoth (Melkor), but that’s all. A Balrog would never cooperate with another Maia like Sauron, nor would it follow his plans. Sauron’s goal was to reshape and rule Middle-earth, while a Balrog exists purely to destroy without restraint. If Sauron had a Balrog in his army, it would simply slaughter everything in its path, making it impossible to control. Balrogs served only Morgoth. This scenario is completely made up and never happened in Tolkien’s legendarium.
