Use new clothes any time you change. Do not re-use clothes the bacteria from your skin stay in your clothes and go back on your skin each time you put it back on.

If this is working for you, that's fantastic, so please disregard if you choose to. I just worry that the vaseline is not breathable and will trap moisture against your skin leading to maceration of the periwound and prolonging healing. There are alternative non-adherent products that would do the same thing while still being breathable.

For anyone confused about the Vaseline, scientifically plain petroleum based products have shown higher healing rates than simply letting the wound “air out”. It reduces scarring as well. Hydrocolloid is another product that was originally created for wound healing. Airing out a wound is very outdated and can lead to increased time for wound healing, scarring and infection.

As a HS girlie I felt that Vaseline/popsicle stick IN MY WHOLEEE BODY😬 I’m glad you’ve found something that works, my mum uses anti cold sore tablets to reduce her spots and I use sudocreme and antibacterial soap! Everyone has different responses with hs that’s why it’s so hard to deal with, hopefully this helps someone🥰

There are Vaseline infused gauze bandages! Just cut them to size, then cover with regular gauze and use tape to seal.

You should ask your doctor about Xeroform. It’s a a non adherent dressing that is infused with petrolatum and bismuth tribromophenate. I do wound care for a client of mine with a pressure wound and this has helped her skin so much! Adaptic is also another option and it’s just the petrolatum!

How about putting the Vaseline on the pad and then put the pad on the wound? Also, wouldn't it make more sense to put the pad on and then the shirt?
