Honestly in a time like this when women’s rights are threatened and seen as a political option, the least a guy could do is pay for a date. If it was the other way around and I had the upper hand, and their rights were threatened instead of mine, the last thing I would do is complain about the bullshit he is.

He’s talking about biphobia and homophobia coming from straight women who pretend to be progressive. I think his message got lost, he’s being specific about a singular type of woman who use patriarchy as an excuse for their homophobia (towards bi men). That’s why he’s saying they are picking and choosing patriarchy, but not examining their own internalized patriarchal influence (homophobia). You both are saying the same exact thing. You’re agreeing with each other, he’s just referencing larger discourse about biphobia and his context was lost.

So, immediately, the very first thing this man describes is the concept of the benevolent patriarchy and many women’s desire to not dismantle patriarchy but rather change the patriarchy to their benefit while still upholding it. That is a feminist concept! While not using the same terminology, he is effectively describing a feminist view point. He then goes on to say that what he has found as a liberal man is that women often overstate their progressive ideals because the only people they’ve ever compared themselves to are conservative men. A fair point to makes. So at 3 1/2 minutes in, we are already failing to recognize actual feminist talking points, misrepresenting what was actually said, and refusing to engage in the explicitly stated subject matter. I’ll keep going to see where he messes up but it’s not lookin good for you so far chief
