Argentina didn't play football at all. Usually, they are fighters on the pitch—but here, the coach steps off the bus before the match already looking teary-eyed and sad; Messi gives this weird pre-match address in the dressing room—not a motivational speech, just calming his teammates down. Why were the two best defenders substituted after 15 minutes, supposedly due to injury? No one was crying—yet everyone bawls if they have to be subbed off in a final! Usually, it’s an emotional affair. Why didn't Messi take that one-on-one chance? He’s a clinical finisher; he could have gone past the keeper with his left foot. Why did some players seem to be begging for red cards? You don't do that in a crucial match. Why wasn't Lautaro brought on? The only thing they seemed to be trying to do was keep the scoreline respectable in this "rigged" defeat to save face. Argentina usually puts on a spectacular footballing display from the 70th minute onwards; their mentality has always carried them deep into finals. But this time, they didn't even try to attack. Zero shots on goal is more than suspicious. The whole thing stinks to high heaven (I was rooting for Spain, but as a football fan and connoisseur, it all seemed very strange).
