According to the school's statement, it strongly condemned the loss of life in Dewanganj, expressed condolences to the victim's family, wished the injured a speedy recovery, and demanded a fair investigation and legal action against those responsible. The school further stated that although protests were held across Sunsari following the Dewanganj incident, NJES said it was not involved in organizing or supporting those demonstrations. The press release alleges that at around 11:30 AM, a large unruly crowd attacked a school bus carrying students who were returning home. The school claims that: The bus carrying students was attacked. Teachers, especially female teachers, were allegedly abused and assaulted. Individuals allegedly entered the school premises. Windows, doors, and glass panels were vandalized. Students were allegedly terrorized, creating fear and panic. The crowd allegedly made communal remarks, calling the institution a "Muslim school" and saying its principal was Muslim. The statement further alleges that some people threatened to destroy the school and set it on fire with petrol. NJES said children studying at the school belong to different backgrounds and should never become targets of communal hatred. The school has appealed to the concerned authorities to identify everyone involved, ensure strict legal action, and provide security for the school, its students, staff, and property.
