@fredestorninos3: We never duck a fade because giving up is a broke mindset. You have to genuinely believe with absolutely certainty what’s yours is yours no matter how far or distant it is. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said that Allah says: “I am as My servant thinks of Me, and I am with him when he remembers Me. If he remembers Me to himself, I remember him to Myself; and if he remembers Me in an assembly, I remember him in an assembly better than it. And if he draws near to Me a hand’s length, I draw near to him an arm’s length. And if he comes to Me walking, I go to him at speed.” Hadith 7405 (Book 97, Hadith 34) I asked Allah for help and strength. With dua alone and believing something will happen is not enough. You have to take a leap of faith and initiate the action to get you to your goals. To be honest, being a revert, my options are limited to how to approach their family since I don’t have one my own. But that didn’t stop me from trying. I exhausted all my options as much as I could. I calculated every possible scenario like a chessboard. Piece by piece, making sure I don’t get checkmated. From the worst case scenario to the best case scenario, I thought of every possible outcomes and how to go about them. I did things such as; making friends from their culture, learning a bit of the language, understanding their culture’s way of how they approach things, their views, their opinions, how they think, their ways of greetings, the expectations of how they go about marriage, all while building myself to the person I need to be by the time I show up to their doorstep. Perhaps in the beginning, it wasn’t the time for me. So be it. Allah knows best. Time was in my hand and was my ally. This is why Allah says to have Sabr. “O you who have believed, seek help through patience and prayer. Indeed, Allah is with the patient.” (2:153) Alhumdulillah for everything 🤍 إِنَّا كُلَّ شَيْءٍ خَلَقْنَاهُ بِقَدَرٍ Indeed, all things We created with predestination [Qadr]. 54:49

The prophet s.aw said if someone comes to you with good religion and good character than marry them. he did not say anything about RACE or CULTURE or even wealth. Just “religion and character”.

What they did has nothing to do with Islam. This happens when people focus on culture and egos. I am sorry you had to go through so much.

Astagfirullah. Why are parents so manipulative. In Islam we should not refuse marriage without good reason.

As a mother myself I could never understand why marrying outside the culture is frowned upon or being seen as shameful .. as long as he is a Muslim a good man who gives two … about what his ethnicity is ?
