@abbyexplainsitall: Replying to @kira I don’t make the rules. But it’s so irritating. Why can’t I talk about being black without a non black person trying to challenge me. Ask the doctors why they let us die 🥸 #beingblackinamerica #BlackTikTok #pregnant
Abby, you gatta understand. Alot of your followers are yt women and they aren't following you because they care. they follow you to see what your yt husband sees in you.
Remember that

Former L&D nurse--- but just even a quick Google search will give you statistics that say that!! Black women are 3 times more likely to die during childbirth. Also you were talking about your experiences and the fact that even though you went through what you did you still think birth and bringing a child into this world is beautiful and like nothing else- and it's so true! People are wild.

All black women unfortunately have a higher risk of dying before, during and after childbirth because they are not taken seriously by bias healthcare providers. I have been in healthcare for over 24 years and I have written so many research papers on this topic and I’m in the process of deciding on my dissertation for my doctorate in healthcare administration and writing my dissertation on this “topic” because it is THE biggest issue that is taking place right now that can be addressed, yet is not and those who are not doing what they should to change things is ridiculous!!! I could go on and on about this horrible thing happening to the black women in this country and I’m not even black. I am going post facts that can easily be googled for those who don’t take this seriously. The high death rate of Black women in the United States—specifically regarding maternal mortality—is driven by systemic racism, healthcare bias, and chronic health conditions. This crisis persists across all income and education levels.Healthcare Inequities and BiasImplicit bias: Doctors and nurses often ignore pain or symptoms in Black patients.Poor care quality: Hospitals that serve mostly Black patients often have fewer resources and lower-quality care.Ignored concerns: Medical staff are less likely to listen when Black women report dangerous postpartum issues.Health and Social FactorsChronic illnesses: Higher rates of high blood pressure and heart disease make pregnancy much more dangerous."Weathering" effect: Lifelong exposure to systemic stress and discrimination prematurely ages the body and harms health.Insurance gaps: Less access to continuous, high-quality health insurance and preventative care before and after birth. I don’t have the power to change things but I plan on using every single thing I can do to bring awareness to this and try to get others to do the same.
