It’s a jab at how neglect and abuse can make any kid turn to any “guardian” and call em dad. Which is sadder imo. Cuz I know how it is. You just yearn. And keep asking for hugs without “asking”. But no one cares. He even says this in the season. And Rick realises this, but they never really expand on that until the end, even if it was selfish on Rick’s part to just ride the bike. Morty would just rather have adventures with the only person he thinks cares. But ironically Rick is the anomaly that does. So like “C137”, like “Prime”. Like father, like son. After all, Morty did make a Rick spiral like Prime did….
