I've been here for about 30 minutes trying to make sense out of the second method but I guess it's not for me. Let me concentrate on teaching English. 😅

If the coefficient of x² is greater than or less than x your approach will fail. what gives rise to the negative one is the axis of symmetry (-b/2a). This is so because the roots are always equidistant from the axis of symmetry.

why not make the difference of two squares simple by: (u-1)(u+1)= u²+u-u-1= u²-1

what if the coefficient is an odd number.. 3, 5, 7...25 39 .. deviding by two will leave a remainder.. how do u solve that

You divided the coefficient of X by 2. Is always the case that you divide the coefficient of X by 2 or that coefficient by itself?

You are wrong brother. you see the numbers you had, if you add them the result should have been positive 2 and not negative 2, and when multiply them the result should be negative 8. in view of the first condition your -4 and 2 are wrong. thank you

Does this method work for every quadratic equation? Because was have different kinds of quadratic equations. Like the perfect square discriminant and that of the non perfect square.

It works for all quadratic equations. But why didn't you use the the quadratic graph to explain it using the distance between the axis of symmetry and the x-intercepts (solution)?
