@gotolouisville: Originally opened as Hauck’s Handy Store in 1912, this Schnitzelburg landmark served the neighborhood for more than a century before being transitioning into Hauck’s Corner bar & grill, preserving its local character while creating one of Louisville’s favorite gathering spots.
Hauck’s is also the birthplace of one of Louisville’s quirkiest traditions: Dainty. In 1971, George Hauck and friends revived the old German street game on the corner of Goss and Hoertz, launching what would become the annual World Championship Dainty Contest. Today, Dainty Fest brings the neighborhood together each summer with a parade, live music, family activities, local vendors, and the beloved championship competition that’s been delighting Louisvillians for more than 50 years.
Hauck’s has a full bar with cocktails and NA options, a casual food menu full of bar favorites, a large expansive patio with plenty of seating, and a small museum to learn more about Dainty.
