@stevecookssomethin: A few people recommended I try using this little egg piercer the last couple times I made hard boiled eggs for a recipe. I know some swear by it, but I wanted to put it to the test to see if it would make a difference. I'm not a scientist, so this is not a perfect test (look to @j.kenji.lopezalt if you need something more rigorous), but it's an accurate representation of my first time using the egg piercer. I've heard that older eggs are easier to peel, and I know from experience that soft boiled are also trickier. I'm not 100% convinced that it makes a huge difference yet, but I think it's a piece of gear I'm willing to keep around to continue testing. What are your thoughts on hard boiled hacks? Do you use one of these egg piercers? Any other tips for an easy peel?
