s1 she tried to k*ll herself bc she thought she failed as the avatar and wanted someone else to be better than her. s2 she got betrayed by her own flesh and blood while battling the literal embodiment of darkness which no other avatar did for 10,000 years. s3 she was hunted down by high class criminals that wanted to k*ll her as a baby and was poisoned to d*ath. s4 she was paralyzed, struggled with the ptsd of almost dy*ng, lost her identity, and had to come back to fight a crazy dictator while she was recovering, not to mention the LITERAL SPIRIT NUKE that she had to deflect. oh korra, the hate you get isn’t deserved

What people don't understand is Aang and Korra's arcs are meant to be fundamentally different. Aang's story is about learning how to become the Avatar, while Korra's story is about learning what being the Avatar actually means. It's meant to show that every Avatar is different, because at the end of the day they're still just people like everyone else. Aang was more in tune with the spiritual side of being the Avatar, while Korra was more in tune with the physical side, and they both had to learn the opposite way.

The avatar cycle was supposed to end how it did. The past reincarnations can finally be with their loved ones. I don’t have the picture but the spiral of avatar statues shows on spot left for Korra.

My theory is that being a water tribe avatar sucks bc they have a conflicting lifeway on their own, avatars are meant to PRESERVE or MAINTAIN balance while Water tribe are an element of CHANGE. What happen to Korra rly sense that the avatar state has been reset because it had to change especially on an era where everything is developing so quickly.

Unpopular opinion, I enjoyed the legend of korra more than the last air bender. Only because, that series goes way more in depth. Korra isn’t perfect, and I think that’s a valuable lesson. Not even the avatar can be perfect, she never stopped, she kept fighting. That being said the last air bender will always hold a special place in my heart 🩵🤍🧡💚

Women and girls are held to a higher standard in media and reality. Aang didn’t experience the psychological trauma of being betrayed by family, poisoned, disabled, his every move and identity questioned. He did not experience being cut off by past avatars. No one came to him when he was low and said he HAD to fight yet another villain before he had time to recover. You cannot compare their personalities or decisions because their traumas are completely different. He suffered as well, just not in the same manner. There is no such thing as the perfect victim, Korra is a perfect example of this. No one prepared her for reality beyond bending techniques, that is a failure from her teachers, not her. She’s written flawed, and that’s okay. It’s realistic.

People forget too, she was sheltered until she was 17yrs old, and she still hadn’t been taught air bending or how to talk to her past avatars. She was set up to fail. And I think people really need to understand what happened in the spirit realm happens every 10,000yrs. It was fate losing the avatars, Korra couldn’t have stopped it, she had to learn how to deal with it.

Even if I love ATLA with all my heart, I have to agree that Avatar Korra was a better character than Aang. Aang was not going to defeat the Fire Nation on his own, and was frozen for 100 years until he actually had a chance, in the form of Katara, Sokka, Toph, Zuko, Iroh, and Suki. Aang had some of the most powerful and wise people of his era supporting him, and yet he almost failed. He died, TWICE, both times being saved by Katara. Avatar Korra had not the support Aang had, and enemies that were the same threat level as Ozai. Her pride, ego, and trust were attacked many times and still she chose to fight, she chose to be the Avatar. She felt scared, isolated, and undeserving of being the Avatar; but not once did she run away from her role as Aang did. Both Avatar Aang and Avatar Korra were different in personality and circumstances. But calling Avatar Korra a bad Avatar even after watching the series is something I will never understand.
