🦞 2026 CRAWFISH SEASON UPDATE. WE’VE HIT A LITTLE SPEED BUMP, BUT THE SEASON IS NOT OVER. The 2026 season gave us a strong spring run. As the water warmed, traps got fuller, prices dropped, and we were able to offer Field Run, Select, Jumbo, and Purged crawfish through the heart of the season. Now we are past peak season and into the late-season transition. 🌾 WHAT IS HAPPENING WITH THE FARMS? Most man-made ponds across Louisiana have now been drained, including our own. That is normal. Farmers are preparing the land, repairing levees and pond bottoms, growing forage, and getting ready for next year’s crop. But some farms we buy from are still holding water and producing crawfish, so pond-raised crawfish are still coming through our buying docks. 🌿 WHAT ABOUT WILD-CAUGHT CRAWFISH? As farm production slows, we rely more heavily on wild-caught crawfish from the Atchafalaya Basin. The wild catch has started, but it has not kicked into full gear yet. Basin production depends on water levels, movement, temperature, oxygen, and where that water reaches. Right now, the water has not fully cooperated in the way fishermen need. The encouraging part is that conditions can change quickly, and we expect the wild catch to improve as the water gets right. 📦 WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR ORDERS? We are still shipping live Louisiana crawfish overnight to your door. Supply is simply tighter and less predictable than it was during peak season. Availability can change from week to week based on what the remaining farms and Basin fishermen bring in. Field Run is now the main option, and quantities may be limited. This is not the end of crawfish season. It is a speed bump between the end of heavy pond production and the wild-caught Basin run we hope is coming next.
