When I saw my face for the first time with all those stitches I contemplated ending my life. A scar takes a year to heal. After a year I got 2 laser treatments. Silicone is great for smoothing out a scar and laser reduces the redness. Ideally your scar should not be red, and it will eventually turn into what looks like a fine line. There are a lot of things that can minimize fine lines. My dermatologist prescribed me Tretinoin for my scar. It hydrates my scar and plumps it up to make it almost invisible. Tretinoin is a topical retinoid used mainly for acne and photoaging (sun-damaged skin), including fine wrinkles and dark spots. It works by increasing skin cell turnover and slowing how quickly damaged skin cells are removed.  Personally, I would never get filler or Botox on a scar. I will make a separate post about SPF.
