I was taught history in a very biased way. So, for example, India, I learnt about the railways and positive effects of the Raj, but nothing about the Amritsar massacre. Slavery is an historic fact and must be taught.

It is, my A levels included it as a unit. But I know what people mean when they say this. They want the entire history curriculum to be about it, how bad it was, how we should all feel shame. Want to know something, Britian didn't invent slavery and is the only place to not only stop partaking but actually putting time, money, man power in to stopping it.

Talk about the good and the bad, no empire in history was perfect but most of them shaped history and their achievements deserve to be remembered just like their atrocities deserve to be remembered
