the whole region was paralyzed for about 2 weeks?? there are still houses in this area that have not been revived after the flood. they are still in the same condition the day the water went down. hundreds of homes were never rehabilitated

It was super scary and luckily my house didn’t flood but it still baffles me that this didn’t get the same national attention as Texas floods or Katrina. Not that any flood is more impactful than another but it’s just kinda sad.

Katrina was not storm surge. that was levees breaking and pumps going down. 100% the city of Nola and army corps of engineers fault

I call it “The Great Thermostat War of 2016.” Because my grandparents moved in with my parents while their house was gutted and it is all I heard about

It was a mesoscale convective storm. Stalled system moved back/forth on then back off shore for 3 days dumping 30+ inches of rain. The main rivers merged into one huge lake covering miles of s Louisiana & Miss area

Just think if they would have cleaned out all the water ways this would have never happened. Water can’t drain when everything is clogged up with trash and debris

If only there was a fund that they collected from the people to put money away and not steal it so we can help the folks effected by it…🤔

I'll never forget this disaster. For all our differences as a country, south Louisianans have a common bond from all these things we go through way too often. I pray it is no one's turn to deal with this for many, many years.
