We’re putting the “dew” back in Mountain Dew 😉🍈🥤 We’ve made homemade sprite, orange soda, grape soda, and a few more flavors, but we decided to change things up for this one and make it our own! Honeydew juice gives it that electric green color (it almost looks fake!) and adds a subtle sweetness that balances out all of the acid. Such a fun one! Save the recipe below 👇 RECIPE: 1 tbsp lime zest 1 tbsp lemon zest 1 tbsp orange zest 3/4 cup granulated sugar Juice from 2 limes
Juice from 2 lemons 1 cup honeydew juice
Sparkling water for topping Add about 3 cups of honeydew to a blender and blend until smooth. Strain through a fine mesh sieve to separate the pulp. Set aside 1 cup of the juice (you can use the rest in cocktails, mocktails, or just drink it!) To a medium-sized bowl, add the granulated sugar, lemon, lime and orange zest. Use your fingers to massage the sugar into the zest, until there are no white streaks remaining in the sugar. To a small saucepan over medium-low heat, add the zest & sugar mixture and the citrus and honeydew juice. Heat to a gentle simmer, stirring occasionally until all of the sugar has dissolved, then turn off the heat and let the zest steep in the syrup for at least 20 minutes, ideally until fully cooled. Once cooled, strain the syrup through a fine mesh sieve to remove the zest. Transfer the syrup to a mason jar or other storage container. To make your soda, add anywhere from 2-4 tablespoons of syrup to an ice-filled glass and then top off with sparkling water. Stir gently and enjoy!
