LIBERTY MOTORS DIRECTOR CHARGED OVER KING DAVID JUNIOR SCHOOL FATAL ACCIDENT The Director of Liberty Motors Uganda Limited, Mr. Muhangi Shadaya, has been arrested and charged in connection with the fatal accident involving learners of King David Junior School that claimed 24 lives. This was confirmed by SP Fredmark Chesang, the Sipi Region Police Spokesperson. According to SP Chesang, three charges have been preferred against the suspect under the Traffic and Road Safety Act, Cap. 347: Permitting driving without a valid driving permit – Contrary to Section 32(2).       Police allege the driver of the bus was not the holder of a valid driving permit and was using his brother’s permit. Permitting the use of a motor vehicle for the carriage of passengers for hire without a licence– Contrary to Section 97(1)(a). Permitting the use of a motor vehicle on a road in a mechanically defective condition – Contrary to Sections 99(1) and (5). The suspect appeared before His Worship Martin Wakayembe, Magistrate of Kapchorwa Magistrates Court, where he pleaded not guilty to all three charges. He has since been *remanded until 13th August 2026*.
