Codex CLI is like, unbelievably better than Claude code. I was diehard for Anthropic before they started with the white knight crap. Codex CLI is less stuffed with features but the features actually w o r k. Claude code will have 5 new hooks added but hooks that are a year old still won’t work properly 😭

Not only is it open source, but it’s split into the app/cli and an app server compatible with both of them on the other side that has a well documented JSON-RPC API so you can build anything that interfaces with the codex agents without the CLI or the App easily using turn-based system
