as a caregiver to the highest behavior client we have. YOU ARENT HELPING, i understand your frustrated. but telling him your frustrated, showing him your emotions while he’s already battling his own……. try this, for 15 minutes no one touches him, no one talks to him, no eye contact and let him self regulate. it will take time but he needs to be able to calm himself, not you narrate everything he does while raising your voice. i see you trying but try a different approach please. if you need tips, message me. my client went from throwing fridges and dressers to having a behavior once a week consisting only of yelling.

I have an autistic son who has meltdowns like this. From my experience telling him to stop in a loud voice usually makes the meltdown worse because he’s already overwhelmed. Staying calm, speaking softly, and offering comfort or something that helps regulate him like a favorite stuffed animal or another comforting item can often be more effective. Every autistic child is different, but compassion and patience can go a long way.

Shaming him and yelling at him and talking to him like that won’t help him get that anxiety out.

meltdowns aren't tantrums. he is overwhelmed and overstimulated. he might not fully understand the meaning of your words. he's NOT an adult, so he doesn't understand it in YOUR Adult Way.

Have you tried brushing, arm and leg compressions. Weighted vest or blanket. Headphones from dad’s loud repeating loud voice. Not being rude just honest. Trying showing him pics of what he like and see if he needs something.

I wonder of you could try a weighted blanket or vest . some Autistics find it soothing. teach him sign language or use pictures. drink, bathroom, food . cute little boy I'm sorry he's suffering . does he like fidget spinners? telling him to stop isn't helping. what of you tell him to clap his hands, you clap too. finding a way to distract & calm. check you state Autism Society for help.
