In an emotional video message, Sánchez thanked Layan, the artists, and the Palestinian people for what he called "a beautiful gesture", saying he was deeply moved that, despite the immense suffering in Gaza, they had taken a moment to express their affection for Spain. Speaking directly to Gaza's children and their families, Sánchez said that "the whole of Spanish society hears you, sees you, loves you, and does not forget you." He also said he hoped the day would soon come when Gaza's children could return to school without fear, paint freely once again, and live in peace.
