@victordoesthemath: A deductible and an out-of-pocket maximum are not the same number. If your family plan has a $3,000 deductible and an $8,000 out-of-pocket maximum, hitting the deductible does not necessarily mean you’re done paying. Depending on the plan, you may continue paying copays or coinsurance on covered care until you reach the out-of-pocket maximum. That’s why when I’m comparing health plans or thinking about how much cash our family should have available, I want to know both numbers. And there’s one more important caveat: premiums, out-of-network care, and some services that aren’t covered by your plan generally may not count toward that out-of-pocket maximum. So don’t just find your deductible. Find your out-of-pocket max too. #HealthInsurance #FamilyFinance #PersonalFinance #Benefits #MedicalBills
