@rowancheung: Spending time in a forest measurably strengthens your immune system, and this immunologist spent years proving it. In one study, he sent twelve men on a three-day forest trip doing just slow easy walks, then checked their blood. Their natural killer cells, the ones that fight cancer and infections, surged about 50 percent. The boost was still there a month later, and a group that walked through a city instead saw nothing. The likely reason is phytoncides, compounds trees release to protect themselves that seem to fire up our immune system too. Li's research suggests a walk in the woods once a month may be enough to keep those defenses elevated year-round. DOI: 10.1007/s12199-008-0068-3

He wouldn't be considered "Japanese" if he did something wrong or hadn't achieved anything. Apparently, that's universal. In many countries, if someone succeeds, they're "one of us." If they don't, suddenly they're a foreigner or an immigrant. 😂😂😂

We knew this many decades ago. We used to put rehabilitation hospitals, particularly respiratory ones, in forests in uk

This is encouraging but I'd love to see it replicated with larger samples in different forests around the world.

A 19th century Persian physician named Al- Razi famous for his method on choosing hospital sites based on air quality, where he would hung fresh meat across the city of Baghdad and picked the place where it spoiled slowest.. He found out that clean air slows illness and help the body defend itself which aids in recovery as well. Li's research expands the hypothesis that pure fresh air has the ability to heal. So most of the hospital at the time were built in areas not far off wilderness where the air were cleanest and best ventilated surrounded by gardens, flowers, fountains and plenty of green spaces
