that’s why i’ll never understand why they portrayed aang the way they did in legend of korra. showing him as someone who only cared for tenzin because he could airbend. do you really think KATARA would let it slide that aang was neglectful towards kya and bumi? you know katara would’ve definitely persuaded aang to teach all the kids airbending and he would’ve done that

Aang’s whole story will always depress me. I don’t doubt that Aang regrets the life he live, he loves the family he has but I just know he misses his home. HIS home, but it’s gone and no matter what, he has to accept that.

Aang’s story always makes me so viscerally SAD. Like ughhhh😭 his whole culture was wiped from the face of the planet. He has NO ONE that’s like him and he was so young that he didn’t even get to learn all the ins and outs of his rich culture. It’s so saddddd😩

I think a part of us forgets that Aang IS an unintentional survivor of a cultural genocide, so watching this forces us to remember that and it is very unbelievably sad.

Everytime I’m reminded of the deep main he has carried since he came out of that ice it really hurts my heart for him… they just wiped out everyone he loved as a kid. No child should ever have to face such pain 🥺

So much meaning behind this scene. The distant laughter of him and his friends, them flying away into the “eternal wind”, the fact that Aang was kneeling so when Gyatso touched his head, Aang had to look up just like when he was a kid 😭 Truly a moment of letting go and healing

God it made me cry too, cuz all he ever wanted was to just be with his people again, that was the life he loved with the air nomads, then like all of a sudden another air bender pops up and obviously he didn’t wanna let him go. I loved how they showed his inner conflict with that
