I think the reason the adult scream is so much stronger because a kid their parents probably just tell them it’s their imagination or it was just a bad dream when the monsters scare them but with an adult, they know they’re not dreaming or hallucinating so it’s more like a primal fear, a genuine fear for their life.

Big note is that the monsters don’t scare kids and not adults bc of a power thing. Kids are just so much easier to scare rather than an adult who could cause a potential threat if enough reports are made about real monster sightings.

I felt like Boo in the first movie when she saw Sully scaring, watching this scene in the theaters. This scene does such a good job of capturing fear too, those rangers crawling out the windows at the end? They definitely thought Sully was gonna kill/ and or eat them

It was even cooler to realize they weren't just ordinary adults, they were a group of policemen/rangers/sheriffs. That was definitely the kind of experience they'd be telling around campfires for the rest of their lives.

A room full of adults filled more scream containers than Sully's sleepover scare in the first movie. Adults are scared of more complex things. Children are scared of the basics. Adult screams hold more complex emotions than children because children feel basic fear.

i honestly believe that the intention behind the fear made it more powerful, all children have a inherent fear of scary monsters they can’t understand. However those adults were not afraid of a monster, mike and sully made them believe fully that they were about to die and it was inescapable fear of death. (My Take)

being able to scare a park ranger should basically tell you how Sully and the others would look irl last time I checked military etc tend to be park rangers etc the most over retirement
