@tescoincidents: The horsemeat scandal was a food fraud crisis that began on 15 January 2013 when it was reported that a wide range of food products advertised in the European Union as containing beef were found to contain undeclared or improperly declared horse meat. The crisis escalated in February 2013 when some tesco products were found to contain up to 100% horsemeat instead of beef. #biohazard #seafoodcity #mexia #xyzabc #horsemeat
hold on, wasnt it lasagne that had the horse meat?

Horse meat honestly isn't that bad, the scandal was the fact that we didn't know that cross contamination had occurred causing traces of horse meat to be present in the beef

Genuine question what is the harm in there being a bit of horse in the burger? The way I see it it’s an animal that lives on a farm and has 4 legs so it’s fair game

This is exactly why when someone says "I'm so hungry I could eat a horse" that I reply "Wanna go Tesco then?"

There's absolutely nothing wrong with horse meat in general.
The problem with this is that we don't know what part of the house was used, how old the house was, how healthy it was. With beef the cows have passports. They can be tracked all the way back to birth. We really don't know what type of quality this horse meat was

You can't sell something that's not the item advertised. Agreed.

Was this even tescos fault? The supplier supplied them with the meat, Tesco I’m sure didn’t examine the meat to discover its horse and I’m sure Tesco ordered beef and didn’t purposefully order horse

i don't know why people hold such a weird double standard about horse meat. as a vegan it's still meat no matter which animal you're getting it from, mind you most of the burgers you eat should barely be considered as meat at all with how processed they are

ive eaten horse, its quite common in alot of other countries. The worst part is it not being listed, any contaminants could kill someone if they arent aware of what they are eating.

Convinced that this was just to see how long they could hide it, and if it did come out how long it would take for people to not care anymore. If we tested more meat broadly today, I don’t trust it would be wholly authentic.

I realise now that the mystery meat is why my and my mum used to love the tesco's own meatballs so much.
