I've used nomad sculpt in the past but when trying to do things like extend the bunny ears outwards it seems like it runs out of polygons for lack of a better explanation. Do I need individual shapes for each limb/body part or something?

honestly good on you, I personally need to do that because it will make drawing comic panels like... so much easier if I have a basic body model, and a bust model for the characters (whether I do that in blender or not is purely up to me, but blender would be better imo because it's easier to pose something you've sculpted)
