Yes please more accountants need to go into software ERP system consulting and design. There is nothing more frustrating than when a sales person convinces the C Suite at a company that their product is going to be life changing for the accounting department without really understanding the processes. Then the accountants that work for the company have to bend over backwards to prove that it doesn’t do the magic that was promised often leaving upper management frustrated with their employee rather than the sales people that oversold the product to begin with.

Don’t forget about private accounting for real estate investment firms. You get to touch so many different sides of the business weather it be acquisitions, dispositions, monthly closes (properties or funds), audit requirements , and you prepare financial statements for investors
