I’m kinda shocked that Aliens isn’t one of the sequels. While “Empire Strikes Back” is one of my all time favorite movies, I think “Aliens” might be one of the best sequels, as a sequel; If that makes sense.

The Dark Knight is suuuuuuuch an amazing sequel. I think one key ingredient to a sequel is just enough expository information for anyone who could be watching it on a whim, but not so much as too annoy hard-core fans on their first watch AND rewatches.

If you’ve not seen any of the Paddington films, you’re in for a real treat. Especially if you like the idea of a comedy film about a very likely autistic bear, which also features some of the most emotional scenes you will ever see

Yes - such a good theme for next month, and also so correct on the Hollywood sequel is not new (I mean Friday the 13th had 8 films and a TV show between 1980-1989). I think where the fatigue often comes in now for me on certain (like Marvel) comes from always feeling behind in how much extra stuff there is (eg to get this Iron Man movie you have to know what happened in this 10 min of Thor). But I also wonder of streaming has caused a parasocial relationship with films because of how intertwined with your everyday they become. It isn’t a 100 day theatre run, waiting maybe a year for a TV screening and maybe renting or buying on VHS and watching every now and then. With streaming I know so many people who will religiously watch a movie once a month or even weekly that you disassociate with WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN NEXT, and more watching it with a THIS SHOULD HAPPEN. This has always happened with fanatics, but I feel it has become very on mass since the late 2010s
