the goal posts kept moving. first I supported and helped him get his green card. I thought once he has that, everything will be in order and we can start building a life together. but then he wanted to go to vocational school. okay, so I worked two jobs so he could go to school. he got a job after he graduated and I thought okay NOW we can start building a life together. nope. then he wanted to get hits contractor's license. again, I worked extra and supported him through that. once he got the license, I was like okay that's it. we're good. now we can start our life. NOPE! he started his own business and I rarely saw him. meanwhile, all my hopes, dreams, and goals were sidelined. whenever I wanted to work towards something for myself, I was met with nagging about the time and money spent. I left him 4 years ago and had to start over. but now I've been working towards my goals again. I've picked up old, rusty skills and I'm practicing and learning to achieve my lifelong dream. it's gonna take at least 6 years, but that's okay. no one is in my way any more.

I was young...he was older....We lasted 15 years 😔....7 kids and I grew up in the marriage and realized he was THE WRONG GUY......😔 I felt like I was taken advantage of 😲

Exactly! I'm almost 40 and never married. I didn't want to marry wrong. God showed me in 2009 who I should marry. And I'm not getting married if it's not that guy. There is a much longer story to this than this.

I agree with you ....but a big reason why people stay together is not wanting to be alone , for the kids, and the potential loss of material wealth & possesions.

Ditto I knew but didn't listen to those nudging thoughts and that decision changed my life on a trajectory I never really recovered from although I left him after 2 yrs. when I look back I can't imagine I made that choice.
