Same thing for memory in regards to China’s CXMT. Their chips aren’t even close to what is being purchased from the big 3. SK Hynix is on their gen 4 HBM while CXMT doesn’t even make a HBM chip.

i somewhat disagree with your analysis. This China news is still bad because the problem is all of these current AI companies have sold investors on "WE'RE GOING TO MAKE MORE MONEY THAN APPLE AND GOOGLE COMBINED". and they are just FACTUALLY not going to do that if there's sufficient competition in the market and especially if there are open source AI competitors blowing past them (because open source software is always better than the crap a vendor sells). The issue is these companies sold a pipe dream and now it's becoming clear they can never achieve it

It’s a big boys selling off the market and trying to scare the living daylights off the retail investor. Many AI related stocks are looking very reasonable price now. Soon new narrative will be out and it will pretty much say, AI has a long run way and demand is strong and prices are attractive. At that time they have already bought and them then the market goes up. They make money selling off the market and pushing it back up.

I think what you’re missing is the implication of this news, there are quite a few reasons why China can’t build EUV machines, but the biggest practical roadblock is the sheer amount of cutting edge technologies involved with building one. ASML can’t even build one on their own, requiring dozens of specialist suppliers from all over the world, each at the forefront of their field. The fact that China is now capable of building DUV on their own means they have an advanced supply chain set up, yes it’s not at the most cutting edge right now, but the next phase is about optimising and scaling based on existing technology, which is actually the strength of the Chinese manufacturing industry, it’s setting up that initial chain that’s the challenge. That’s why the analysts believe the semi-conductor industry is in for a reckoning in the coming years.
