if you happen to read this one. so if the back side of the wall is open would that allow the bubbles to go through the back of the seem? like no insulation and airflow behind it

Yeah, I fucked myself. I used some paper tape, even though I was used to using the mash tape as soon as it dried and bubbled, and I touch it and an entire tape ripped out of the joint and this was after three sanding already and finishing. 😅

Mesh tape should be discontinued. It's just not a good product. Butt joints will crack almost every time. Paper tape is the standard. If you're doing repair work, you can use paper or fibefuse. Never mesh

Paper does not get put on with anything else than green mud, and mesh only gets used for hot mud. And always pre fill before doing tape don’t want any bubbles or cracks.

Paper tape is best for big projects mostly new construction and mesh is more for patches

I was always taught mesh on seams paper in corners. Is that not typical or at least a good practice? Don’t flame me I’m not a drywaller by any means.

I find paper tape faster to hide, although there is more of a learning curve to use it properly. No question it’s better for inside corners
