As an ER nurse….i feel this. I wish people were this aware about humans at the end of their life and how awful prolonging the inevitable is for the person actively dying.

It’s such a hard spot to be in. We were literally in the same position last year. My wife’s dog was declining. She had had her for 17 years. This dog had lived such a good life, but it was a weird response from people around our community.

My 18 20 and 16 year old moved out cos I made that decision yet like u said they never took him for walks all they did was get angry that he was weeing everywhere cos he was incontinent

as an oncology nurse…this translates so much. I wish more people could understand that….you are not prolonging their life, you are prolonging their death, how traumatic is that? that frustration is from ALL OF YOUR LOVE ❤️

People might not get it but I would rather make the decision a week early than a day late, I’ve done the dragging it out thing and I regret it so much. It was selfish, I was only thinking of myself and not her.

youre right ... as horrible as it is, dont allow her to suffer 😔 i had to put my boy down at the small age of 5 because he wasnt well and as much as i didnt want to do it, it wasnt fair for me to allow him to suffer because i wasnt ready. 🫂 it is better to do it sooner rather than later and she knows youre doing it because you love her ... dont worry about other peoples opinions 💐 its not like you're putting a healthy dog down or into a shelter, which theyd probably turn a blind eye to!

This!!!!!! 100% this this is your dog it’s so beyond hard to watch your dog die. Mine is 15 yrs now and he’s blind deaf and doesn’t know where he is and can barely move it sucks so bad

you’re allowed to consider her quality of life vs keeping her alive for “selfish reasons”, reality is that time of life is always going to happen and I think it’s completely normal to want her to go whilst you’ve got good memories of her last days vs struggling
