I'm white af and I give the name Hank. Usually I tell them it has five a's and is in all caps. Then when my food is up, if they're cool, it's, "Order for HAAAAANK!" And i feel 1,000% every time.

I’m a barista and we have an app you can scan in that shows us your name. We still ask for the name for the sake of pronunciation. Even if it’s simple. We want to make you feel seen. The amount of this I get is genuinely interesting. simple names too!! Simple names get Americanized
