as for the ginger bit, I don't think people were questioning her heritage because of her lack of speaking Spanish. I think people were questioning it because it came out of nowhere for a lot of people. most of the fans had never heard ginger say anything about her heritage before that moment. whereas most Latina competitors are loud and proud. but fans who have been around a while have heard her talk about her Puerto Rican side on the show before.

FYI, Hispanic and Latina are not interchangeable. Hispanic means someone from Spain and Latin is someone from Latin America.
